The life of one of Spanish football's most promising players was tragically cut short on Tuesday 28th August, 2007 after a series of cardiac arrests from which he could not recover. He was Antonio Puerta, the Sevilla and Spanish national team player. An integral part of his club's recent successes, he was loved by colleagues and opponents, and adored by his fans.
This is not the first time this kind of tragedy has hit a football field, the events evoke memories of Marc Vivien Foe and Miklos Fehrer, who also collapsed during games and passed away.
Our best wishes go to the family and friends of Antonio Puerta - R.I.P.
